Tom is one of the greatest pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB) history. Among only six left-handers in history to earn more than 300 career wins, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility (2014).

A gifted athlete, Tom was drafted by both the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and MLB’s Atlanta Braves in 1984. Tom opted for baseball and went on to enjoy an iconic career, leading the Braves to five World Series appearances. In 1995, he led the team to a World Series Championship and was named MVP of the Series. He is also a two-time winner of the Cy Young Award which is given annually to baseball’s best pitcher. Tom’s No. 47 jersey was retired by the Braves in 2010.
