Arguably one of England’s most consistent performers over the last decade-plus, Mike is renowned as a formidable tackler, runner and creator of opportunities for others. Despite being limited by injuries throughout much of his career, he recently became the most-capped centre in English history (73). He is one of only 13 countrymen to surpass the 70 milestone. Mike was a key member of the 2003 squad that captured the Rugby World Cup. He featured in all but one of the seven matches and scored a try in the victory over Georgia. Educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield, he played for Yorkshire Schools. In 2011, he married Zara Phillips the daughter of the Princess Royal and the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
