Mike is the all-time leader in goals scored and points among American-born players in the National Hockey League (NHL). Over the course of his 1,499 game career, he amassed 561 goals and 813 assists, totalling 1,374 points. Mike is one of only five Americans to have been selected with the first overall pick in the NHL Draft. He went on to play 21 NHL seasons, 16 with the Dallas Stars where he served as the team’s captain and popularized hockey in Texas and the southern United States.

A seven-time NHL All-Star, Mike led the Stars to the 1999 Stanley Cup Championship. He represented Team USA 11 times over three decades, including the 2002 and 2006 Olympic Winter Games. In 2014, Mike was inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame and had his iconic No. 9 retired by the Stars.
