“The Smiling Assassin” spent the bulk of his Premier League career with two of its best-known clubs, Aston Villa and Manchester United. During Dwight’s nine-year tenure with the Villa, he made 231 appearances and scored 97 goals. He was the club’s top scorer for three-straight years (1994-95, 1995-96 and 1996-97, winning Player of the Year honors after the 1996-97 campaign. After moving to Man U in 1998, he helped it win the Premier League three-consecutive seasons, leading the league in goals in 1998-99. In 1999, Man U captured the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

Dwight’s many other accolades include Trinidad and Tobago Footballer of the Year (2005, 2006), the Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary’s Award (2005) and the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee Sports Personality of the Year (1998). The Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago, was named in his honor, and he was named a Sports Ambassador for his country thanks to his outstanding play in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
